Instituted 8 May 1765 by Stanisaw II August of Poland; incorporated into Russian orders 1831 by Tsar Nicholas I. (1831 1917 issue). Constructed of silver with multi coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an eight pointed starburst with pebbled rays, bearing a central white enameled medallion overlaid by a central raised and red enameled monogram of St. Stanislaus of Szczepanw, situated within a silver ring, in turn circumscribed by a
