The white portions of the foliage tend to burn in sun

The edible tubers

The flower spikes

but it is also required by the larvae of monarch butterflies

Sarracenia chelsoni Chocolate Garden I recall first seeing thisWe are pleased to offer this rare, naturally occurring hybrid of Sarracenia purpurea x rubra, thanks to plantsman Frank Galloway, who grew these from seed of plants in Brunswick County, NC. The red upright hooded pitchers, resemble a giant red Sarracenia rubra. These vigorous growers have the same growing requirements very moist soil and bright sun as the rest of the pitcher plants.
