Description

The tartan was recorded by the City of Dunedin in Lord Lyon Public Register of all Arms & Bearings 36/86 on 25th November 1947

This is said to be one of the oldest of the tartans produced by Wilsons of Bannockburn

The association was not always a happy one and the 'broken' MacEwans settled in various parts of Lennox

This sett is thought to derive from the 1819 Wilsons of Bannockburn pattern

which existed in the collection of the Highland Society of London
