He received a Long Service Award for 8 years in the army on October 2nd

inscribed "ROMA: NOMEN ET OMEN" above and a figure-eight tied rope below

He arrived in France on 7th July 1915 and was wounded in the back by shrapnel at Ypres on 4th June 1916 and was a victim of a gas attack on 22nd September 1917

A signed postcard of then Luftstreitkrfte Oberleutnant Erich Homberg, featuring a studio portrait of Homberg in uniform and with the Pour le Mrite (received 13 October 1918) and other decorations clearly visible, the lower right corner bearing Hombergs handwritten signature in black ink, the reverse bearing an additional handwritten inscription from Homberg, dedicated from Berlin in November 1919,
